On November 13, 2024, the Kaweah Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) adopted the 2024 Second Amended Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs). As part of these plans, a Well Registration Program has been established.
This program invites landowners to provide key information about their wells—including location, type, and status—to improve our collective understanding of groundwater aquifers and support sustainable groundwater management strategies.
We are seeking information on the following well types:
- Agricultural wells
- Domestic wells
- Industrial wells
- Retired (non-destroyed) wells
To complete registration, we will be providing a Well Registration Portal link where you can review the site and complete the process. In preparation, please gather the following items:
📋 Well Registration Checklist for Landowners
To complete your well registration, please be ready with:
- Well Location (APN, address, or GPS coordinates)
- Well Type (Agricultural, Domestic, Industrial, or Retired/Non-destroyed)
- Well Status (Active, Inactive, or Retired)
- Landowner Information (Name and contact details)
- Well Completion Report (if available)
- Flow Meter Information (if applicable)
We also want to take this opportunity to let you know that the GSAs will be hosting the State of the Subbasin meeting on October 21st. Landowners are encouraged to attend and bring the documentation listed above. If you prefer, staff will be available at the event to assist you in registering your well on-site.
Accurate and up-to-date well data is critical to ensuring effective groundwater management, minimizing subsidence impacts, and supporting compliance with the state-approved GSPs. By participating in this process, you are helping safeguard the long-term sustainability of water resources in the Kaweah Subbasin.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and look forward to working together in this important effort.
